Surfers Paradise

Lost Kingdom

Lost Kingdom is an otherworldly urban sanctuary, the likes of which the Gold Coast has never experienced before. The very new addition to the local nightlife scene features lush greenery and bamboo throughout, with moodily-lit corridors that lead you to the final destination – which is obviously the bar and dancefloor. It’s a jungle-themed venue that quickly developed a reputation for being the home for very good nights out. You can expect stylish dancefloors, seated areas, VIP booths and a treasure chest of cocktails all night long.

15 Orchid Avenue, Surfers Paradise

Friday – Saturday 9pm to 3am

Taboo Tiki

Taboo Tiki is a hidden laneway bar on Orchid Avenue, with a fun and moody interior that makes it hard to forget – regardless of how many cocktails you’ve had. Booths and seating nooks are scattered throughout the Hawaiian-themed bar, and hanging-tiki heads keep an eye on the entire place. Taboo Tiki specialises in rum, and is known by locals for its rum-based tropical cocktails. You’ll also find all the classic crowd-favourites on the menu – so you’ll want to keep an eye out for the festoon lights and neon tiki-head sign that mark the entry to this bar.

The Cavill Hotel

Anyone that’s visited the Gold Coast before will be familiar with Melbas, which is why we heard resounding despair when the age-old joint closed it doors. But those complaints were short lived, with the replacement bar living up to the reputation of the beloved former institution. The Cavil Hotel has undergone a complete transformation to boast a contemporary fit out, entirely new dining experience, living sporting action and a state-of-the-art gaming lounge. The new popular destination appeals to people of all ages and walks of life, making it a must-visit for any nght out on the Gold Coast.

Friday and Saturday 11am – 3am

Sunday 11am – late

Finn McCools Irish Bar

There is just something about all things Irish. From the people and the Guinness to the actual country itself, you really can’t beat a good dose of Irish. While the Gold Coast might be quite the distance from Ireland, Surfer’s Paradise is home to the next best thing – Finn McCools Irish Bar. This new bar is the younger sibling to the Brisbane version that goes by the same name and is quickly becoming a crowd-favourite for its delicious pub grub, array of tasty beverages and all the live music. If you want to catch a live game of sport in any code, this is where you’ll want to park yourself for the evening. Be sure to tuck into a classic Irish meal from the traditional menu too – the Beef and Guinness pie is our personal favourite.

39 Cavil Avenue, Surfer’s Paradise

From the moment you step through the door, the retro-themed lounge with a modern twist will transport you to another world. Arcade Nightclub also hosts an impressive line-up of local and international house and tech-house DJs, as well as live indie bands.

As you enter the striking venue, you’ll discover 1920s art Deco styling with a modern twist. From the unmissable pink velvet furnishings to the geometric light fittings, it’s a place that simply needs to be seen to be believed. This eclectic playground is a showstopper for any seeking some cheeky fun, and we can guarantee you’ll want to return for more.

With a menu of towering burgers, loaded hot dogs, whisky-spike milkshakes and late-night snacks, you seriously can’t walk past the laid-back venue on Surf Parade in Broadbeach. The bar team shakes, stirs and pours a full range of tipples, including everything from American whiskies and spiked sodas to boozy milkshakes and tapped cocktails. We are suckers for the dessert-inspired concoctions too, with a personal soft spot for the espresso-martini thick shakes with chocolate shavings.

Burleigh

Burleigh Pavilion

Burleigh Pavilion is quite possibly home to the best view of the ocean on the Gold Coast. While not technically a night-club, it’s the sort of place that everyone needs to visit at least once – every weekend! The beachfront restaurant and bar caters for more than 600 diners from lunch until dinner, with everything from casual bites to a full fine-dining experience. It goes without saying that the drinks served here are seriously out of this world and are the perfect accompaniment for a showstopping sunset.

Nightjar

Venture down a dark back-alley car park in Burleigh Heads and you’ll find a grungy dude’s den that brings plenty of industrial feels. We’re talking roller doors, exposed red clay brick, Besser blocks and naked concrete floors – Nightjar is the real deal. But it’s not just the décor that’s impressive. The bar offering is equally as delightful. Think: margies, caprioskas, mojitos and daiquiris. Live music with a heavy focus on rock ballads runs from Thursday right through until Sunday night, so if you’re wondering past on the weekend, you seriously won’t miss it.

The legends behind this joint are on a mission to see every customer enjoy a whisky, or at least appreciate it. The bar itself looks like a scene from an old movie, with British Racing Green-colour paint and dark wood throughout.
