While it’s a crowd favourite all week-long, every month of the year, things go up a notch when it comes to game day. Book a table for you and your mates for the opportunity to catch your team play on the big screen while enjoying a delicious gastro-pub meal. From share plates and pizzas to burgers and seafood, there’s something for every craving, dietary requirement and preference. You’re in luck if your game happens to fall between 12pm and 3pm on a Sunday, because you can treat yourself to an espresso martini or aperol spritz and three-hour grazing package for just $49 per person. You can also indulge in the expansive range of beverages on offer or tempt your luck in the excellent TAB facilities.
Where: 46 Cavill Avenue, Surfers Paradise
The Avenue has been the heart of Surfers Paradise nightlife since it first opened its doors in the mid-80s. While plenty has changed over that time, one thing remains firm – the team behind the venue is just as committed to putting on a good time for every single person that walks through the doors. No matter what night you’re going out, there’s always something that happens.
But when game day rolls around, you know you’re in for a real treat. The vibrant music, entertainment and never-ending drink specials really set the tone for an epic session watching the next big fight or cheering on your team as they run onto the field for the game of the season. If you’re looking to soak up all the beer you’ll inevitably drink, you’re in luck too. Their menu offers Italian influenced New York style food with pizzas, pasta, burgers, ribs and amazing steaks and salads. You can’t stop by The Avenue without experiencing the brewery’s fresh tank beer either. They’ve won awards for Carlton United Brewery for the best beer on tap in Australia, so you know you’re onto something good here. No matter the sporting occasion, you’ll find it live and in high definition right here on the big screen.
Where: 3 -5 Orchid Avenue, Surfers Paradise
If you’re a Gold Coast raised child of the 90s or you even just visited the region during this time, there’s a good chance a fair chunk of your time was lost of the dance floor of the iconic Surfers Paradise Beer Garden. Commanding the best place on all of Cavill Avenue, ‘The Beery’ is an OG garden bar, music and sporting venue for all. Since a seriously impressive multi-million dollar renovation in recent years, they’ve reopened their doors and it’s even bigger and better than ever.
Today, the Beer Garden offers an entire roof, where you can bask in the sun while enjoying the gorgeous Gold Coast sunshine and salty breezes that come with life in Surfers Paradise. The trendy white and wood paneling, nautical accents and festoon lights create the perfect back drop for you to kick back and just soak up all the good vibes. When paired with the huge screens, live streamed sporting events and seriously kick-ass drinks menu, is there any where else you’d rather be to watch your team take it home. If you’re got some extra time before or after your game, we suggest snagging a picnic table and umbrella so that you can sip your way through a few of the creative cocktails while enjoying some top notch pub fare. It’s really the best of the best.
