Nobby Beach needs little introduction for Gold Coast locals and travellers alike. Whether you’ve visited Queensland’s unofficially capital of fun once before or you’re born and raised there, you’ll be no stranger to this after-hours hub for entertainment.

With so much culinary talent squeezed into one postcode, the hipster pocket nestled between Miami and Mermaid Beach is the place to be – any night of the week. Once you’re here, you can easily eat and drink your way through the evening and into the early hours of the next day.

It’s the type of place that offers everything from grungy pub-like venues to fine dining institutions, which ensures there’s something on offer for absolutely everyone. The only problem with having so much world-class food and drink up for grabs is that it can be tricky knowing where to start and which places to settle in for the night.

At Wicked Nightlife Tours, we’ve spent more than our fair share of time in the area. Over the years, we’ve probably made a toast at each and every one of the bars in the infamous Nobby Beach strip. To help you make the most of your night out, we’ve pulled together a list of our top picks.

Nobby newbie or seasoned local, these joints will tick all your boxes.

Top Nobby’s Beach Bars

Mexicali

There’s a whole lot to love about MexiCali and that’s probably why it’s somewhat of a Nobby Beach institution. Pull up a stool on the recently expanded western-facing upper deck to soak up the late afternoon rays with your mates and a few jugs of sangria or margaritas to set the tone. The fully-equipped and totally pumping bar serves up all the crowd-favourites that you’d expect from a Mexican bar, as well as a few more creative concoctions.

But what’s a fiesta without a few tacos? The pork belly taco paired with the loaded carne asada fries is an absolute must-have. For any vegos, you seriously can’t go wrong with the haloumi tacos either. If you can line your visit up for a Tuesday, you can dig into as many tacos as you can squeeze into your belly for $5 a pop. And on Sunday’s, you can enjoy the afternoon with an epic three-hour long line up of live tunes, drink specials and margs on tap.

Cambus Wallace

If you’re looking for moody vibes and a good time after 8pm, you’re looking for The Cambus Wallace. This small bar leads the charge with its sensually lit and effortlessly cool ambience, which is paired with down-right delicious drinks and a nautical theme. Given the bar specialises in rum and whisky, you can expect plenty of epic cocktails and only the best spirits served on the rocks.

Whether it’s a weekday evening or a Saturday night, you’re also likely to catch live local musos and DJs doing their thing. The compact layout means you’ll have a front row seat to the show, no matter where you’re sitting in the bar. The added bonus of a night at Cambus Wallace is that you’ll also get the chance to tempt your tastebuds on the rotating roster of soul satisfying mains and tasty bar snacks. It just so happens the cocktail slingers behind the bar are just as delicious too.

Bine Craft Beer Bar

Back in its earliest days, the only thing served at Bine was XXXX, VB, Tooheys and the likes. Oh, how times have changed. Today, Bine Craft Beer Bar is a trailblazer for underground, up and coming and much-loved brews. As the Gold Coast’s first dedicated craft beer watering hole, the team behind this venue rotate the drinks more often than we can keep up with. For you, that means you’re always in for a surprise and we can assure you that you’ll never be disappointed.

Right now, they’re serving up the likes of Balter, Burleigh Brewing, Stone and Wood, and Newstead – among plenty of others. You can always get a heads up of what to expect before rocking up by visiting their website for a sneak peek of the day’s carefully curated brew line up. No trip to Bine is complete without a $10 bucket of wings. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Tropic Vice

Tropic Vice is unlike anything the Gold Coast has seen before. Sitting high above the Nobby Beach dining precinct, this sundrenched rooftop venue offers an inspiring combination of Palm Springs, California, Miami and Florida – all rolled into one. The super breezy garden bar is shaded by candy-pink umbrellas and dressed in plenty of greenery to give it the ultimate coastal ambiance.

When it comes time for a drink with your friends, find yourself a high-table and order a few cocktails before the sun starts to dip below the horizon. There are few views that top this one! As for the food, the menu combines the flavours of the Caribbean and South America to create its own unique cuisine – Florribean.

Nobbys Arch

Nobby’s Beach is home to some terrific little boutique bars ideal for a Friday night, Saturday chill night or a Sunday session with friends. Really relaxed and trendy atmosphere close to the beach. There are plenty of craft beer options on tap if you are a beer lover and plenty of sitting space.

Miss Mee

Prepare to be blown away, because Miss Mee is truly something else. Brought to us by the incredible team behind Burleigh’s Justin Lane (just a few minutes down the road), this neon-light eatery and bar is the hottest new scene on the gold coast. Imagine: hot pink bar stools lining the bar and a plush banquet to soak into with your friends.

While your jaw will undoubtedly hit the ground when you take a peek at the cocktails list, you won’t want to finish up your visit without at least a taste of the South East Asian fare. The menu is seriously overflowing with Thai-inspired dishes that will keep you coming back for more and more and more.
